How to Send Canton Coin Between Wallets

Wallet-to-Wallet CC Transfers, Step-by-Step

Always send a test amount first

Crypto transactions are irreversible. Send a small amount under $5 worth of CC, confirm it lands in the destination wallet, then send the remainder. This protects against address typos and any wallet-side bug. Skipping the test is the single most common cause of lost CC.

Step-by-step

  1. Step 1

Get the destination wallet's deposit address

Open the receiving wallet, find the Receive or Deposit screen, copy the deposit address. Address format on Canton uses the party-id structure — long alphanumeric strings, distinct from EVM 0x... addresses.

  2. Step 2

Open the sending wallet's send screen

In the wallet that holds the CC you want to move, open Send. Paste the destination address. Most wallets show a verification preview — first and last 6 characters of the pasted address.

  3. Step 3

    Verify the address character-by-character

Compare the first 6 and last 6 characters of the pasted address against the source. Address-substitution malware is rare on Canton but the discipline is universal — verify, then send. Never trust a copy-paste blindly.

  4. Step 4

    Send a test amount first

For any send larger than a few dollars, send a small test (under $5 worth of CC) first. Wait for it to land in the destination wallet, then send the rest. This protects against typos in the address and against any wallet-side bug.

  5. Step 5

    Wait for confirmation

Canton settles in sub-second time once the round closes. Your sending wallet shows the transaction as pending, then confirmed. The destination wallet's balance updates within 1–2 minutes typically.

  6. Step 6

    Send the remainder

Once the test amount lands and you've verified the destination wallet shows the correct balance, send the remainder of the CC to the same address.

Common mistakes

Sending to a non-Canton address (e.g., a Solana or Ethereum address). The wallet rejects it but the error message can be confusing — verify the address starts with the Canton party-id prefix, not 0x.

Sending without a test. Even seasoned crypto users skip the test sometimes; don't be one of them. The cost of a $5 test is far less than the cost of a misdirected $500.
